ZakynthosZakynthos or Zante (from Venetian ) is the third largest island of the ionian sea, known by the italians as the “Flower of the Levant”

From seaward the countryside seem hardly deserving of such praise, but when standing on the high ground looking down upon the great central plain one appreciates the rich green cultivation.

The most famous landmark of the island is the Navagio beach. It is a cove on the northwest  shore, isolated by high cliffs and accessible only by boat; it is named after a shipwreck, MV Panagiotis , which sunk on the shore around 1980.
