Here the mythology places the departure of Ulysses to the Trojan War .
The place is very picturesque , sheltered from the NW ( but open to the S -SE) ; bottom of sand / seaweed in 5/10m depth .
From here you can reach ,with a walk, the village of Stavros where in the immediate vicinity you can see the ruins of the palace of Odysseus .
It is generally accepted that this bay was used for the ancient town of Polis which stood on the ridge above; a few scattered Mycenaean “finds” prove that there was a Bronze Age settlement here.
